Apprenticeship vs graduate: What’s the difference?

We offer two entry points into our profession: school leaver apprenticeships and graduate roles. Each provides a meaningful start to a career in audit, tax, consulting or advisory, the difference lies in how and when individuals enter the workplace.

School leaver apprenticeships are ideal for those finishing A-levels or Highers (Year 13/S6). They allow young people to earn while they learn, gaining a full professional qualification and practical work experience without the need for university. Apprentices are supported every step of the way with structured training and dedicated mentorship.

Graduate roles are designed for university leavers and typically start after completing a degree. These roles also lead to a professional qualification and offer similar development opportunities, while drawing on the broader academic experience graduates bring.

Neither route is better, just different. Both are valued equally at Forvis Mazars and lead to the same high-quality qualifications and career progression opportunities.

The importance of early engagement

Exploring future career options early can build confidence and open up new possibilities. That’s why we offer Future Talent programmes such as work experience, virtual learning, and interactive events, all designed to help students understand what a career at Forvis Mazars could look like and develop the skills they’ll need to succeed. These early experiences are often a stepping stone to an apprenticeship or graduate programme and give young people a head start in shaping their future.
