Recruitment scams and fake job adverts

Unfortunately, recruitment scams and fake job adverts are becoming increasingly common. Fraudsters can pretend to be employers or recruiters, using company names, logos and even the names of real employees to make an opportunity appear genuine.

If you’re applying for a role with Forvis Mazars in the UK, there are some simple ways to check that the opportunity and the person contacting you are really us.

How you’ll know it’s us

There are three important things to remember:

  • Check the email address. Recruitment emails from Forvis Mazars UK will come from an email address ending in @mazars.co.uk.
  • Check the vacancy. If you see a Forvis Mazars opportunity advertised elsewhere, check our official careers website to make sure the role is genuine.
  • Check how you’re being contacted. We will never contact you about a job through WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram.

If someone contacts you claiming to represent Forvis Mazars from a different email domain or through WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram, don’t share any information or continue the conversation.

We’ll never ask you for money or financial information.

We will never ask you to make a payment as part of our recruitment process, and we won’t ask you for financial information when you apply for a role.

Be suspicious of anyone claiming to represent Forvis Mazars who asks you to pay for equipment, training, administration or anything else as part of securing a job.

If you successfully join us, we will need some personal information and documentation as part of our formal onboarding process, including information to complete Right to Work checks. These requests will form part of our official onboarding process rather than an unexpected request from someone contacting you about a job.

Look out for the warning signs

Take extra care if:

  • The email doesn’t come from an @mazars.co.uk address.
  • You’re contacted about a role through WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram.
  • You’re offered a role without going through our usual recruitment and assessment process.
  • You’re offered work experience outside of our formal work experience opportunities.
  • You’re asked to make a payment or provide financial information.
  • You’re unexpectedly asked for sensitive personal information.
  • The opportunity sounds too good to be true.
  • An email address, website or link doesn’t look quite right.
  • You’re put under pressure to respond, provide information or make a decision quickly.

Not sure it’s us?

If something doesn’t feel right, check before you respond.

Check the vacancy on our official careers website before applying or sharing any information. Remember, recruitment emails from Forvis Mazars UK will come from an @mazars.co.uk email address, and we won’t contact you about a job through WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram.
